Many of our female patients are here either because they are beginning to experience severe symptoms attributed to perimenopause or menopause itself, or they have researched their current treatment with synthetic hormones and are horrified by the side effects associated with these medications. Some start to experience minor symptoms and decide to take a pro-active approach and staving off more significant symptoms and simply would rather preserve their quality of life and laugh at those who say “it comes with ageing”!

Estrogen
For many women, estrogen supplementation is necessary to maintain hormonal balance. Synthetic estrogens have a plethora of negative and potentially harmful side effects. Bio-Identical estrogen is preferred, thus eliminating side effects and offering a hormonal balance to alleviate symptoms. We offer two methods of delivery for estrogen supplementation. A transdermal cream (made specifically to meet your individual needs), or a hormone pellet.
Progesterone
Progesterone plays many roles, for women it helps prepare the body for pregnancy and helps regulate the menstrual cycle. As we get on in years it plays a very significant role by “regulating” the effects of estrogen. When there is a decrease in progesterone a woman can become “estrogen dominant” which can cause a number of symptoms to include, but not limited to: Weight gain, decreased sex drive, mood swings and depression, PMS, irregular menstrual cycle, heavy bleeding, breast tenderness and/or fybrocystic breasts, fybroids, endometriosis, gallbladder problems and thyroid dysfunction. All of which can be minimized or eliminated with bio identical progesterone.
Testosterone
Testosterone isn’t just for men anymore. Testosterone plays a vital role in both men and women. Optimizing testosterone levels is very important, testosterone affects a great many things including memory, sleep, cognitive recall, muscle definition, fat reduction, libido, vaginal dryness and much more. At Pro Age Medical & Aesthetics we offer 3 delivery forms of testosterone for women. 1. transdermal creams 2. injections 3. Pellets (preferred and most common).
Thyroid
The most common role of thyroid is to help regulate your metabolism, although thyroid has many additional functions. At Pro Age Medical & Aesthetics, we will give a thorough evaluation of your thyroid as well as monitor the progress on a regular basis. We prescribe a “Bio-E-Thyroid” customized based on your specific needs, we will prescribe a specific amount of thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) to maximize the optimization of the thyroid hormones.
